Frequently asked questions
Why isn't Lexcue completely free?
Large language models cost quite a bit of money to run. To grow Lexcue sustainably without compromising our service quality, we need to cover our costs.
What models do you support?
We support all frontier coding models, including Claude Sonnet 4, OpenAI o3-pro, OpenAI GPT-4.1, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Claude Opus 4, and more. The full list of included models can be found here.
Who owns the code generated in Lexcue?
You! Regardless of whether you use the free, pro or business version of Lexcue, all generated code is yours and free to be used however you like, including commercially.
How do the plan limits work?
Limits will always be greater than the cost of one’s plan. For example, Pro includes at least $20 of agent model inference at API prices per month. If you go over your limit, we’ll nicely ask you to upgrade or switch to an unlimited model.
Where does Lexcue use custom models?
Lexcue is powered by a combination of custom models and API models. Our custom models entirely power features like Tab. They work alongside the API models to improve the intelligence and speed of the Agent.
What code do you store?
If you enable “Privacy Mode,” your code will never be trained on, and we will only retain code when required to operate a remote feature (e.g. Background Agent). Otherwise, we may collect usage and telemetry data (including prompts, code snippets, or editor actions) to help improve Lexcue.
What is Lexcue Tab?
This is Lexcue’s native autocomplete feature. It’s a more powerful Copilot that suggests entire diffs with especially good memory.
Do all Lexcue features work with an API key?
A few important Lexcue features (including Tab and Apply from Chat) are powered by custom models and cannot be charged to an API key.
